Fortrac 3D® is a further development of the renowned Fortrac® geogrid and is used for slope stabilization, veneer stability and turf reinforcement. Fortrac 3D® is a flexible, three-dimensional reinforcement grid manufactured from high-tensile strength, creep resistant yarns with a three dimensional structure that enhances its interaction with soil. The geogrid is given a special polymer coating to protect it from UV exposure and installation damage. Its well understood long-term properties allow Fortrac 3D® to be designed for the specific period of use required for each project.

The high tensile strength of this geogrid means Fortrac 3D® provides optimum reinforcement against soil layer slips parallel to the slope. These slips often occur in road embankments between topsoil and the compacted embankment core or with thin soil layers capping landfill sites. The effect can be accelerated by water entry and the build up of excess pore water pressures.
The structure of Fortrac 3D® improves soil retention at the critical planes of contact while its strength transmits the generated forces to the anchorage points. This increases the stability of the earthworks and permits the use of construction methods that are both safe and economic.
Turf reinforcement mat
Thanks to its remarkable three-dimensional structure, Fortrac 3D® exhibits excellent soil retention properties, which when combined with vegetation significantly increases resistance to soil erosion. Fine soil particles are held in place until the vegetation has had time to establish a root structure. This characteristic is particularly important where there are rapid movements of surface water.
Fortrac 3D® is also used for bank protection, in rainwater retention ponds, along waterway banks (sometimes in combination with bitumen-bound aggregate) and for greening steep slopes using hydroseeding.

Extensive shear and pull-out tests have proven the product's excellent composite action with soils.
Interaction coefficients greater than 1.0 confirm optimum composite action with the surrounding soil. The use of Fortrac 3D® prevents the formation of new potential slip surfaces. The low-creep behavior of all Fortrac® products has been proved in extensive tests. Practical trials indicate only low reduction factors need be applied to model damage caused during installation.
UV resistance is high due to the polymer coating and Fortrac 3D® is resistant to natural substances found in soils.
