These flat fabrics are generally made from high-strength synthetics such as polyester, polyamide, aramide, polypropylene and polyethylene; materials which are particularly notable for their very high strength. Depending on requirements they can be manufactured from multifilament, monofilament or flat tape yarn.

The fabrics can be manufactured to have fire-resistant, low creep, anti-static and UV-resistant properties on request.

The fabrics can also be coated on one or both sides with PVC, PP or HDPE.
