Landfill
(Kopie 2)
The special awareness of the need to protect the environment and the problem of waste disposal have lead to the development of the multibarrier concept in landfill site construction. Several impermeable barriers around the waste disposal site protect the ground water from contamination by landfill leachates and make waste disposal environmentally sound. The base lining and the surface sealing systems are two important elements in landfill sites.

Geosynthetics are an essential component of these sealing systems. Their role includes separating the mineral seal from the underlying soils and protecting the thermoplastic sealing membrane from damage. They also act as a filter between the waste and the drainage layer and as reinforcement for the surface sealing material and in steep slopes.
Geosynthetic composites with a high drainage capability can replace sand or aggregate drainage layers. Landfill can be effectively sealed using geosynthetic clay liners in which the highly dilative bentonite is effectively contained between various geotextile layers. Drainage mats can also be supplied for complete multilayer system solutions.
Fortrac® 3D is the optimum reinforcement in this situation to prevent soil layer slippage and provide erosion protection.
