HUESKER has over 150 years of tradition as a textile manufacturer

The company was founded as H. & J. Huesker & Co. in December 1861 in Gescher, northern Germany. Rapid industrial expansion in the 19th century and the success of flax and hemp cultivation made Münsterland into a focus for the European textile industry.

In 1863 the company began producing cotton textiles in its newly completed factory. The development of Germany as a nation during this period contributed to the company's rapid growth. By 1867 production was taking place on over 200 looms.

In addition to the mass market, an extensive niche market arose for products that could fulfil special functions in technically challenging and very economically effective applications. In 1958 HUESKER recognized the very promising outlook for synthetic fabrics and began manufacture of filter fabrics and sandbags.

This was followed by the development of geotextiles with multiple functions. Sophisticated combinations of products to provide separation, filtration and drainage were devised.

Continuous expansion of the product range led to the foundation in 1973 of HUESKER Synthetic GmbH, an independent, medium-sized company. A global player with an extensive sales network of expert partners.

Today HUESKER geosynthetics are used in the construction industry. Technical and agricultural textiles are two further areas of strong product growth for the company.
